Inclement Weather Policy

The Church will keep facilities open and accessible during regular business hours whenever possible, regardless of weather conditions. Therefore, the Church will not necessarily close if Fayette County Public Schools or other schools are closed. Only extremely hazardous weather, impassable travel conditions, severe damage to the facilities, and/or a power outage at the Church will cause the Church to close.

The Head of Staff will determine if the Church office will be closed and will notify the staff members as necessary, and to the best of his ability. The Director of Finance and Operations will make the determination in the event that the Head of Staff is not able to do so.

In the event Fayette County Public Schools are closed or delayed due to weather, all staff will be granted a two-hour paid grace period to report to work. Once an hourly person has arrived at the church, he or she is required to clock in and start his or her daily work regardless of whether the two-hour grace period has passed. Watchmen are required to call the church office to check the calendar and see if they are needed.

If the Church is open and a staff member chooses not to report to work because he or she feels it is unsafe to travel, then the absence will be recorded either as a vacation day or a personal day for full time employees. If hourly part time employees choose not to report to work, then it will be recorded as an unpaid absence.

As an alternative, all staff members may be permitted to make up their time during the same two-week pay-period that the absence occurred, except Watchmen and Saturday/Sunday custodian. The made-up time is subject to the approval of the staff member's supervisor.
