Connect with Other Disciples

We have all kinds of groups at Second for you to get involved in!

Prayer Shawl Group

Whether someone in the congregation is ailing, grieving, or celebrating, from life’s beginning to its end, Second’s shawl makers offer a touching expression of care and love. They also make lap robes, baby blankets and hats for community agencies to provide to the people they serve. They meet via Zoom every third afternoon (time?) to enjoy fellowship, inspire creativity, and foster the growth that comes from the shared spiritual practice of this ministry.

Book Discussion Group

Saturday mornings at 9:00 am, join with other women for enrichment and connection through discussing books of interest related to Christianity in the world and personal life. Although the group often reads works by women authors, it does not do so exclusively. Participants choose books covering a broad range of interests and opinions.

Chamber Chorale

The Lexington Chamber Chorale brings a rich and unique choral repertoire to Central Kentucky audiences. Since its humble beginning as the Sine Nomine Singers, the Chorale has enjoyed celebrating the art of choral singing through performing interesting and challenging pieces of music. Chamber Chorale concerts also enrich our cultural community through creative collaborations with guest artists and musicians. The passion for singing and the continued pursuit of musical excellence inspire the singers to present quality programs that touch both mind and spirit.

The Lexington Chamber Chorale does not have any section openings at this time.

Backpack Buddies

In partnership with God’s Pantry Food Bank, Second serves as Backpack Buddies for students at Cardinal Valley Elementary School. Every week during the year, our volunteers pick up shelf-ready food at God’s Pantry which they pack into lunch bags here at Second and then deliver to the school’s Family Resource

Coordinator for distribution. You can schedule a week to participate as a family, with friends, or join in with an ongoing group. Other than your time, no cost is involved.

Flip Video

Each of us travels a unique Faith Pathway, sometimes journeying with others in spiritual practice, service, and worship, sometimes journeying solo—either by choice or circumstance. Imagine a virtual crossroads where your path could intersect with others each traveling at their own pace to their various destinations, where you might leave notes, guidance, images and encouragement. That’s the idea behind “The Crossroads” Online.

Each week, a new devotional online video will come to you via email. It will include a roughly two-minute meditation followed by prompting questions which you can respond to in a shared online space. You will be able to record a brief audio or offer a visual or written response for others to see and reflect on. Think of it as a noticeboard along the way where you can take in ideas and inspiration whenever you have time to stop by and give it a look.

Join us at Faith Pathways “The Crossroads” online. To learn more about how it works, please follow this link. To begin receiving weekly posts, please sign up here.
