Beginning June 14th, this year’s build will be a new adventure as Second partners with other area churches (Holy Ecumenical Neighbors) to build a five-unit attached block at 221 Perry Street. Although the shape of the houses will be different, the mission remains the same—to provide good, safe, affordable housing for a family working toward making a home.
Due to Fayette County being in the Yellow Zone, masked will be required.
This year’s family are Anny and her daughter Lumiere. Having fled the Democratic Republic of Congo, and living for a time in a refugee camp in Chad, Anny and Lumiere express deep gratitude and have said “We will be happier. We are excited for the home. I am ready and able to come help build.”
We are now back to providing lunches for the workers on site. This would be great for a small group or family within the church to select a day to provide lunches. They may be catered or homemade.
