The Teaching Ministry at Second

Greetings from the Director of Christian Education....

All the gospel writers agree: Jesus was a great teacher! Whether seated in a boat before a large crowd, delivering a sermon from the slope of a mountain, or talking with a small group of believers at the table with a loaf of bread, Jesus taught his disciples about God's call in their lives and how to live out that call.

In Mark 1:22, it is said that Jesus "taught with authority." His words and stories were not merely interesting or informative, they were words that transformed and healed people's lives.

Likewise, the goal of our teaching ministry in the church is not merely to increase knowledge about our faith in Christ. Our goal includes helping Christians of all ages to take seriously the call to be disciples of Jesus Christ, to address what is problematic in our world today, and to lead people to live in the kingdom of God. In Jesus' name, the teachers and youth leaders at Second Church are helping to form today's disciples...

As our teaching ministry grows, so will the opportunities to become involved. We will need more people who are willing to share the faith.
