John MuirJohn Muir and The 1,000 Mile Walk
(Presented to Forum on 2/8/98)

Dick Shore portrayed John Muir on KET's Kentucky Life program on February 13, 1999. The show included scenes from several areas along Muir's path from Louisville, through the green woods of the Knobs, stopping at Horse Cave, and the Big South Fork on his way to Savannah and points south.

"You may know John Muir as John O'The Mountains: writer; glacial geologist; naturalist, father of Yosemite; founder of the Sierra Club; mechanical inventor; world class ambler; architect of the National Park Service, and raconteur extraordinaire.

Above all these things John Muir ramains the archetypal consummate great and gentle soul whose legacy endures as a reminder to us to live in harmony with nature."

Dick Shore as John MuirJohn's alter ego, Dick Shore, told the story of Muir's life, from a Scottish boyhood to The 1,000 Mile Walk (from Kentucky) and beyond. Dick is a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Shore's life-long passion for the theatre has enhanced this John Muir presentation which he has given all over the United States enthralling over 31,000 people since 1987. The program is available for bookings.
