The 2000 Pace-Warren
Lectures
Founded in 1980, Friends of the Groom is composed of ten to twelve adult performers from the Cincinnati area who travel in teams of three to five members. The interdenominational group leads retreat weekends and conducts workshops at hundreds of locations from Alaska to Florida. Always their material is worshipful, provocative, and inspirational. Their congregational retreat weekends employ drama, small group interaction, and worship activities to build Christian community and inspire individual faith. Their Beyond Bathrobes workshops are designed to give people practical tools for using drama and storytelling activities in the church and in Christian education. Directed by Tom Long, the group rehearses at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Ohio. Friends of the Groom enhances its ministry with scripts and audiotapes of its productions. Their Lord's Prayer was recently performed at Second Presbyterian Church by Glenn and Kathy Blomquist.
