Habitat for Humanity Build - October 2005
The build is complete - the dedication was December 11.


Day 0 (Sep 30) - Laying out the plan.


Day 1 (Oct 1) - Putting up the frame.


Day 2 (Oct 2) - Adding wall and roof panels.


Day 3 (Oct 3) - Putting in windows and doors; starting the roofing.


Day 4 (Oct 4) - Laying shingles; installing plumbing, electricity and sidewalks.


Day 5 (Oct 5) - Putting up siding.


Day 6 (Oct 6) - Finishing roof; adding siding, plumbing and heating.


Day 7 (Oct 7) - Doing some siding on the back on a rainy day.


Day 14 (Oct 14) - Finishing outside trim and inside walls during the week.


Day 21 (Oct 21) - Inside painting & trim during the week


Day 35 (Nov 4) - Landscaping


Day 51 (Nov 20) - Railing, wiring, cleaning


Day 72 (December 11) - Dedication Day

Habitat Build - October 2005

We're fortunate to have members with extensive experience with
Habitat who have taken a leadership role for this year's build
-- Bob Elliott, Chris Reid, Bill Fortune and others.

Second has a long history with Habitat and this year's build put us back on track:
1990 -- Charleston SC (a group from Second worked for a week after Hurricane Hugo),
1991 -- Hawkins Ave.,  1992 -- Gerald Dr.,  1994 -- Fifth St.,  1996 -- Newton Pike,
1997 -- Bradley Dr.,  1999 -- Winburn Dr.2001 -- Whitney Ave.

The 2005 build on Chiles Avenue began on Saturday, October 1.
Sat. Oct. 1 - Sun. afternoon Oct. 2 -- framing and roofing (30-60 volunteers)
Mon. Oct. 3 - Friday Oct. 7 -- siding (10-15 volunteers)
Saturday Oct. 8 -- insulation (4-6)
Saturday Oct. 15 -- hanging doors, trim (4-6 skilled)
Mon. Oct. 17 - Sat. Oct. 22 -- painting, trim, landscaping (15-20 including 5 skilled)
