The Casas por Cristo Ministry

Barrett Steele
(A presentation to Second Presbyterian Forum, 5/2/99)

Barrett Steele and a team from UK's Christian Student Fellowship went on a home building mission in Mexico during their spring break. Barrett, a member of Bayless Memorial Presbyterian Church in Grayson, Kentucky, was supported in this effort by Second Presbyterian Church. Teams from the Christian Student Fellowship have built homes several times through Casas por Cristo.

Casas por Cristo, located in El Paso, Texas, provides the structure that enables mission teams to build homes in Juarez, Mexico. They assemble the building materials, provide leadership for visiting mission teams, arrange sleeping accomodations, and work with local churches in Juarez to line up building projects.

Barrett and two other team members, Cami Colburn and Mandy Chiles, told Forum about their mission experiences and showed photographs and a video from the trips.
